On February 12, 2025, alumni and music lovers gathered in The Well to celebrate the release of Don’t Look Down, the latest collaboration between composer Christopher Cerrone ’09 MM, ’10 MMA, ’14 DMA and the four Yale alumni of Sandbox Percussion. In an intimate performance, as well as conversation with Yale School of Music Professor Chris Theofanidis, the ensemble showcased its experimental approach to percussion, each musician deftly playing multiple instruments at once to create a mesmerizing soundscape. The round pub pulsed with intricate polyrhythms, culminating in a striking finale—beer bottles transformed into percussive instruments, their resonant tones forming an ethereal cacophony. Guests enjoyed great food, drinks, and a complimentary CD, making for a resonant and unforgettable evening.
