Staff Positions

Technical Director (Audio/Video)

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Technical Director (Audio/Video) will oversee, and provide support for, all technical live-event support elements related to professional, faculty, and student-led events in 5+ multi-purpose venues in the Schwarzman Center. They will ensure smooth and timely operations and safety throughout the process; foster an inclusive and respectful working environment around production activity at the Schwarzman Center; and carry out duties while exercising a high degree of autonomy and discretion. The production team plays an essential role in a start-up culture that necessitates flexibility, enthusiasm for the mission, and a can-do attitude. Frequent night and weekend work will be required.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and expertise in standard A/V practices and workflows including editing, color correcting, audio mixing, graphic creation, digital distribution; Advanced knowledge of conventional and automated lighting fixtures, DMX signal flow a plus, and ability to setup and operate equipment. This candidate will have advanced expertise with high-level production equipment: SHURE, Yamaha, Barco, Panasonic, ClearCom, and ETC., & high-level production software such as DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Audinate Dante, QSC Q-SYS, IDK and AVID Pro Tools. Basic computer networking, shared file server management, and knowledge of Mac OSX.

The candidate should also possess knowledge of and expertise in production-related health and safety best practices and ability to identify and correct potential hazards. Knowledge of safe rigging practices is a plus. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize complex workload, collaborate effectively and flexibly with a large number of faculty, staff, students, interns, community members, guest artists, and other professionals representing a wide diversity of personalities and cultures. Marketing Manager

Yale Schwarzman Center is looking for a Marketing Manager to join our team. The Marketing Manager brings broad and deep experience to a highly collaborative team that includes programming, community experience, marketing and communications, technical production, and building logistics.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Manager supports the management and implementation of marketing, communications, audience services, and community experience activities from planning through execution and evaluation in a fast-moving, mission-driven start-up organization. Ideal candidates will bring a passion for arts and culture with demonstrated ability to prioritize curiosity and creativity in their work.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to create compelling stories and messages that articulate the artistic vision and mission of the Schwarzman Center while ensuring brand consistency (visual identity, voice, style) across print materials and electronic platforms. The candidate can manage and monitor delivery channels for newsworthy content, including updating and maintaining websites, social media accounts, and articles for email newsletters, and producing multi-media content. The candidate will also manage and supervise the work of graphic and web designers, student staff, printers, video producers, and photographers, and design print and digital content, including playbills, programs, and posters, in accordance with brand guidelines. This candidate will provide support in the management and implementation of front-of-house operations for programs and events, including ticketing, wayfinding, and ushering.

Director of Development

Yale University seeks a talented and experienced fundraiser to join Alumni Affairs and Development in support of the new Yale Schwarzman Center (YSC). Reporting to both the Senior Associate Dean for Development in Yale College and the Executive Director of YSC, the YSC development director engages and solicits prospective donors to Yale University for gifts in the $10,000 to $250,000 range (including naming opportunities) and plays a central role collaborating with YSC staff and development officers across the university. The director is responsible for setting and communicating the vision for fundraising priorities and identifying, engaging, and cultivating relationships with recent graduates and other alumni, as well as parents and friends, in support of programming at the YSC, a new hub for student life and the arts at Yale. This includes overseeing and managing personalized visits to campus, virtual tours, and other activities to inspire and strengthen relationships with new donors and friends to the arts at Yale. In consultation with the Senior Associate Dean and the YSC executive director, leads the work of the current YSC advisory board which includes high-net worth individuals and celebrity performers, while expanding the membership, and serving as the primary contact for the Schwarzman Foundation.

The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker and problem solver, and appropriately persistent in their approach to engaging and networking with artists and supporters. Familiarity with the cultural sector (nonprofit and/or commercial such as TV/Film/Media, Theater, Dance, Music, Comedy) would be useful in leveraging this role to collaborate effectively with campus partners and prospective donors.

Director of Events & Theatrical Production

Yale University seeks a talented and experienced production professional to join the senior leadership team of the Schwarzman Center, Yale’s first-ever center for student life and the arts. Located at the heart of campus, the Center houses 5+ multi-purpose venues including Commons - a popular dining hall by day and event space by night – and is host to a high volume of university events in addition to arts programming and occasional external rentals. The Center is designed to bring together students and faculty from all of Yale’s schools and colleges – a university-wide educational, social, dining, and cultural hub that engages with audiences local to global, with state-of-the-art technology.

Casual Event Technician

The Schwarzman Center at Yale University (YSC) is looking for on-call Casual Event Technicians to assist on events and performances in collaboration with the Director of Production, Production Manager, and Media Production and Technology Manager. The Casual Event Technician will help to execute and provide audio, visual, and general support for the vast array of events and programming at the Schwarzman Center.

Student Positions & Fellowships

YSC Community Engagement Fellow

The Community Engagement Fellow works with the Associate Artistic Director to lead the coordination of the signature program and the peer-led collaborative Sessions, and works with various members of the YSC staff to support communications that highlight the Center’s work. Creative Marketing Fellow G&P

The Creative Marketing Fellow is responsible for the ongoing development of Storyboard - YSC’s virtual workshop and content sharing platform - and the co-development and implementation of guerilla marketing campaigns. This role reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and is available to graduate and professional students with demonstrated skills in project management, web content management, digital content creation, and marketing promotions.
