Class Title: BROADWAY DANCE: FROM CLASSIC TO CONTEMPORARY

Explore several generations of Broadway dance with Broadway performer, director, choreographer, and Juilliard-trained dance artist Joseph J. Simeone.

Dancers will work with contrasting Broadway repertory, moving from classic musical-theatre styles through Fosse and Michael Bennett to contemporary Broadway. Beyond learning the steps, the class will focus on musicality, phrasing, weight, dynamics, character, precision, and the small choices that can completely change a performance.

Level: Intermediate. Dancers should have an established technical foundation and be comfortable learning choreography at a steady pace. More advanced options will be available within the material. Previous ballet, jazz, or musical-theatre dance training is recommended.

Preparation: No advance preparation is necessary. Please wear clothing you can move comfortably in and appropriate dance footwear.
