Courtney Skipton Long, PhD joined the Yale Schwarzman Center as Director of Development in July 2023.

An historian of art and architecture, curator, and development professional, Courtney brings over 15 years of experience in higher education, college art museums, and non-for-profit fundraising. At the Schwarzman Center, Courtney serves as a strategic advisor for development initiatives. She is responsible for setting and communicating the vision for fundraising priorities and for engaging and stewarding donors in their support of the Schwarzman Center’s boundary-pushing artistic programming.

Prior to joining the Schwarzman Center, Courtney served as Associate Director for Membership Programs at the Yale University Art Gallery where she reinvigorated the free membership program and built an upper-level patrons group called Gallery Patrons. As an academic and curator, Courtney’s interests span the long nineteenth-century and include publications and exhibitions dedicated to topics about art and science, prison reform, and the Gothic Revival in the United Kingdom.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Courtney currently lives with her family and dog in New Haven. She received a BA in art history and medieval studies from Mount Holyoke College, and an MA and PhD in the history of art and architecture with a graduate certificate in medieval and renaissance studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
