The Baptizing Tree

The Baptizing Tree

Encounters with nature

By Jessica Tuan, MD, MS, AAHIVS
Yale University School of Medicine

A sunbathed path lined with tall, dense, verdant trees

The Baptizing Tree

When the lingering raindrops

Fall from the

Vaulted, leafy cathedral

Onto me,

I am renewed.

Masked by the sun,

Leaves shower me with clandestine pockets of rain,

While the stained glass shadows guide me in a direction back home,

Asking me in one breath to

Abandon restraint

Without hesitancy,

But rather intention.
