The Dance Studio is located on the lower level of Yale Schwarzman Center, 168 Grove Street, New Haven, CT 06511.

SPECIAL 2PM CLASS TIME

  • Free and open to the public with registration.
  • SIGN UP to learn when registration opens.
  • We welcome people ages 15 and under when accompanied by an adult.

EveryBody Dances @ Yale Schwarzman Center brings local and visiting dance artists to our Dance Studio to teach masterclasses in jazz, hip hop, salsa, modern, contemporary, precision dance and more! All community members are welcome. This week's class will be led by Bijayini Satpathy. 

SPECIAL 2PM CLASS TIME

Satpathy will teach a workshop in the unique art of Abhinaya or the language of Expressional Dance.  This class encompasses learning of 9 basic emotions, the language of hand gestures and their application. The participants will then learn to translate ideas, imagination and stories through facial expressions and gestural language.

Clothing recommendations: 

  • Indian style Kurta and Salwar or long Yoga pants and T-shirts are recommended. 

  • Shorts and skirts are not allowed. 

  • Dancers will need to move on bare feet.
