Born and raised in New Haven, Kito Covington is stage manager for Woolsey Hall, a role he has held for the past 15 years. In this dynamic and multi-faceted role, Kito is responsible for a range of duties at the 2,650-seat auditorium. Every day and every event is different, and Kito executes event management, scheduling and planning, stage setup, and event-related communications, meeting the unique needs of each event. Adding to his portfolio, he operates light and sound for Yale College undergraduate ensembles and, for the past 25 years, has handled staging and riser installations for the Yale Glee Club and Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
Kito assists the Dixwell-Yale Community Learning Center—coordinating, scheduling, and providing AV support when necessary for various programs and departments including New Haven Reads, the President’s Public Service Fellowship, Yale University Community Breakfast, and Yale Police Department. Kito has also been involved in the planning of major university events such as Yale's First Year Assembly, Baccalaureate Address, and Yale College Reunions.
Prior to joining Yale, Kito spent more than a decade in New Haven's local stage community in roles ranging from stagehand to prop setter to set builder, all experiences that inform his roles today.
Outside of work, he enjoys carpentry, painting and playing basketball with his two sons.
