Megan inspires those blessed with extraordinary monetary resources to lead more purpose-driven lives through philanthropy.
In her role as Deputy Director of Principal Gifts at Yale, Megan works with some of the university’s most generous donors on transformative gifts. For over eight years, she has collaborated with the president, provost, deans, and executive leadership on donor strategy. She cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors to help Yale achieve its institutional goals and priorities. In 2019, Megan was instrumental in securing a gift that will launch the Yale Jackson School for Global Affairs, the university’s first new professional school in nearly fifty years. In her previous role as Director of Major Gifts for Yale Law School, in 2012, she secured financial stability for the school’s renowned Career Options Assistance Program, the nation’s first public-service fellowship, which remains the most generous loan repayment program available to law school students in America.
Prior to joining Yale in 2011, Megan spent nearly a decade raising significant resources for her alma mater, University of Virginia, where she discovered her gift for building relationships with legacy-driven individuals. As a Senior Director of Major Gifts, she participated in every stage of the university’s $3 billion campaign and led regional fundraising strategy for Texas, Northern California, Colorado, Maryland, and the Pacific Northwest. A highlight of success included spearheading UVA’s first African American philanthropy initiative, which created a robust pipeline of alumni leaders of color and endowed the Julian Bond Professorship of Civil Rights and Social Justice.
Megan received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Virginia, followed by nearly ten years in publishing in New York City. She worked as a publicist at Crown Publishers (Random House Inc.), an online producer for Barnes & Noble when it launched its premier website, and as a junior agent for the co-heads of the literary division of William Morris Endeavor.
When she is not thinking about philanthropy, she may be found reading (or listening to) contemporary fiction, dreaming of the next production she will see on Broadway, gardening, or spending time with her husband and nine-year-old son in Hamden, CT.
