Instructions

Commons is located at Yale Schwarzman Center on the first level of 168 Grove Street, New Haven CT 06511

Skates, wrist-guards and elbow pads will be provided. Personal skates are not permitted. If you would like to wear a helmet, please bring your own. Guests ages 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Montreal-based Le Patin Libre has spent years reimagining what skating can be — stripping it of competition and showmanship and turning it into something tender, unexpected, and deeply human. For their Yale Schwarzman Center debut, they transform Commons into a roller rink, blurring the line between performer and audience in a way that is equal parts dance, theater, and pure joy.

Le Patin Libre’s work exists at the intersection of skating, dance, and contemporary performance. Their signature approach removes the competitive apparatus of figure skating and replaces it with choreographic intimacy and audience participation, inviting spectators to skate alongside performers.

A limited amount of in-line skates and helmets will be available for use on a first come first served basis.
