eighty miles
I wrote this song addressed to my parents, with themes of leaving for college and missing home. The title eighty miles refers to the approximate distance between campus and where I grew up.
This video is a recording of a live performance from the annual KASY (Korean American Students at Yale) Cultural Show in 2022, and I posted it to YouTube on 어버이날, or Parents' Day, which is observed in Korea annually on May 8.
I plan to record and release the song as part of my thesis album in the spring, under my artist name "noremi" (노래미), a bilingual pun on the solfege "do-re-mi" and "song" in Korean (노래).
I hope that someone out there listening might relate and take comfort in knowing they're not alone.
