Tobi Kassim was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, and has lived in the United States since 2003. His writing follows music toward glimpses of other possible worlds. His experience of migration informs his interest in seriality and incompleteness in poetry. Tobi’s work has been published in The Volta, The Brooklyn Review, Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, Adroit Journal, Chicago Review, Obsidian, and elsewhere. His chapbook Dear Sly Stone (2023) was published by Spiral Editions. Kassim is an Undocupoets fellow, the recipient of a Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholarship from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and an assistant poetry editor for West Branch.
