Paul Holmes Morton is a plucked instrument specialist practicing disciplines from the European Renaissance to modern Americana. With lutes, guitars and banjo, Morton plays as a core member of touring Baroque band Ruckus, and The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, as well as appearing with major American music festivals, orchestras and opera companies. Recent: AMOC, The English Concert, Handel and Haydn Society, Apollo's Fire Baroque Orchestra, The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, La Jolla Music Festival, Opera Lafayette, Spoleto Music Festival, American Bach Soloists, ACRONYM, and has toured with Concert Artist Guild and Beth Morrison's production of Du Yun's Pulitzer-Prize winning Angel's Bone in Hong Kong and Beijing.
He explores traditions of the Celtic diaspora with Makaris and The Chivalrous Crickets, with whom he plays guitars, lutes, 5-string and 4-string banjos and bazouki. An active recording artist, his cross-genre musicianship can be found on numerous albums by The Chivalrous Crickets, Makaris, Ruckus, Tiny Glass Tavern, and Paul Simon.
