Nikki Claxton is a proud New Haven native and a product of the New Haven Public School system. Rooted deeply in her community, she has dedicated nearly three decades to teaching dance at Betsy Ross Arts & Design Academy (BRADA), a New Haven magnet school where she continues to inspire generations of students through movement, discipline, and creative expression.
In addition to her long-standing work in New Haven, Nikki spent 10 years teaching at Westport Dance Center, broadening her impact and sharing her passion for dance with diverse communities, and currently teaches at Elements Dance and Movement Conservatory in Woodbridge.
Claxton’s work is grounded in a deep belief in the power of the arts to educate, heal, and transform. As both an educator and artist, she is committed to nurturing confidence, resilience, and excellence in her students using dance as a vehicle for growth, storytelling, and lifelong learning.
