Louise Mandumbwa is a MFA Painting and Printmaking candidate at the Yale school of Art and the 2023-24 Robert and Jean Steele Education intern at the Yale University Art Gallery. At the YUAG Louise is invested in reimagining programs that invite the wider New Haven community to experience the galleries through making.
In addition to her portraiture and figurative work that draws from and reflects the people she has been in community with, Louise’s practice centers the workshop format as a means of exchange. She attained her BFA in 2021. Louise has been an artist in residence at the Sam And Adele Foundation for the Arts and the Chautauqua School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in Botswana, Arkansas, Louisiana, Miami and New York, and Louise is originally from Francistown, Botswana.
