Frances Lorraine Samson

Frances Lorraine Samson is a New York based artist originally from Toronto, Canada. At 19, Samson joined the Limón Dance Company as the youngest and only international dancer. As a soloist with Limón, she has had the pleasure of collaborating with artists such as Kate Weare, Francesca Harper, Raúl Tamez, Kayla Farrish, Madeline Hollander and Aszure Barton.

Her performances have been described by the Boston Globe as "absorbing, steadfast and compelling”. Additionally, she has performed for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Walt Disney World, TEDx, New York Fashion Week, Dance Magazine and Rotary International. Samson has collaborated with Grammy-Award winning artists Nona Hendryx and Jonathan Gandelsman, and in both 2018 and 2019, she was a resident artist at the Danish National Academy of Music, sponsored by the Department of Global Affairs Canada.

Samson is a reconstructor for the José Limón Dance Foundation and a teacher for the Limón Institute. She has worked with prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, LaGuardia High School and the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre.

Samson is currently working for Award-winning choreographers Twyla Tharp and Baye & Asa.
