Roderick George trained at Ben Stevenson’s Houston Ballet Academy, The Ailey School, and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He has danced with Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Basel Ballet, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, and The Forsythe Company, performing works by Marie Chouinard, Peeping Tom, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Jiří Kylián, Sharon Eyal, Ohad Naharin, and Benoit Swan Pouffer. As a choreographer, George has been commissioned by numerous schools and universities. He was selected for the Emerging Choreographer Series with YAGP (2012) and for Springboard Danse Montréal (2013). His honors include being named a Presidential Scholar of the Arts and YoungArts Winner (2003), Bronze Medalist at YAGP (2005), YoungArts Fellow (2021–22), recipient of the inaugural Jacob’s Pillow Men Dancers Award (2024), a Princess Grace Awardee for Choreography (2024), and the inaugural Princess Grace Artist Fellow (2025).
